My former computer instructor recently tasked me with finding a way to run Gizmos & Gadgets, a game for Windows 95 and DOS, on Windows XP. I had Vista but I figured I could figure it out anyway. I first installed the Windows 95 version and it brought my computer to a slow crawl. The game wouldn’t load and kept saying it couldn’t find the MIDI drivers for my sound card. I then thought I could put it in an emulator. I installed DOSBox and downloaded a free, DOS version of the game. After a little tweaking I got the game to run and created a video of it. I’ll probably create a how-to soon but the more technologically adept could probably figure it out themselves. Enjoy!
Web Addresses for NYT Podcasts
New York Times has a lot of podcasts available for your viewing pleasure… on iTunes. I watch all of my podcasts in Miro so I was dismayed when I found out they didn’t offer a link to the feed of the podcast so I didn’t a little hacking myself. I loaded the podcast in iTunes. Then I right-clicked and selected “Show Description.” There it had the address of the feed. Unfortunatley you can’t copy and paste it so you have to type it out. I have the address for David Pogue’s podcast so I will provide that here so you don’t have to type it all out. I haven’t done any of the other podcasts yet but I might decide to find the feeds for them and I’ll post those here too. Enjoy!

The Prodigal Son Returns
You may have noticed I haven’t been posting much lately. I’ve sort of neglected my little blog and I want to explain why. I was on a journey. I journey for a new blogging platform. I blogging platform where I would be free to customize my blog to my heart’s content. A place where I could share and post whatever I so pleased. But I failed to find that out on World Wide Web. I went to Wordpress and felt restricted. I went to Blogger and it felt stale. I went to Vox and it felt like MySpace. Then I realized something. I had what I was looking for all along. It was Tumblr. Tumblr is very customizable and I can post a variety of content from all over the web. It may not be as simple or as large as some of those other platforms, but I feel right at home here. The Prodigal Son has returned and he’s now home.
Download Day 2008
Firefox is trying to do something pretty huge this year. Firefox wants to set a Guiness World Record for Most Downloads in 24 Hours. They plan to do this on the release day (which is not yet known) of Firefox 3. Pledge today to download Firefox 3 when it launches and help Firefox achieve its goal.
